Clara McGinnis has been painting and studying art for most of her life. She began as a watercolorist and now primarily paints in oils. While her goal is to achieve a quality of art like that of the old masters and learn their techniques in rendering beautiful paintings, she also sees it as important to offer her own unique style.
Without a doubt, the Northwest has always been a favorite subject matter because it has been Clara's life-long home. The Cascade Mountains evoke awe as does the expanse of the Pacific Ocean. For the past couple of years, Clara has been doing commission paintings of family homesteads and farms. Recently, her goals are to master portraiture and figurative art.
As a Christian, Clara knows that the long hours she spends painting and creating has meaning and value. She is motivated in her craft because she creates art as a witness to others of God's awesome majesty and character, as well as to the reality that we live in. Because she feels urged to bring glory to God, Clara faces the arduous journey of constantly improving technique, quality, and meaning in her paintings with diligence and excitement.
