I spent my childhood summers in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where I discovered my love for all critters and the beauty of nature. I grew up fascinated with mammals but only in my thirties did I discover the wonder and accessibility of birds. Now I am fully addicted to finding and viewing birds. As a long-haul truck driver, I have the good fortune of being able to travel across this nation and discover the different birds of America's different geographic areas. I hope to travel the world and photograph and experience as many different species as possible. I enjoy showing people how wonderful the natural world is and in so doing convince people to make choices that will preserve earth's amazing creatures.
I feel very fortunate to live in Washington State where almost five hundred different species of birds have been seen and where there is an amazing diversity of mammals. From the Northern Spotted Owl to Woodland Caribou, Washington is home to species few other states can claim. And unique in Washington is the Skagit Valley which is a true wonderland of nature with flocks of Snow Geese and large numbers of swans seen in very few other places.
